Centre for Children with Learning Difficulties was established in the year 1999.
Approximately 15-20 % of school going children is estimated to have learning problems. Out of which, 6 % of school-aged students are identified as severely learning disabled. No statistics available regarding the prevalence in India.
Objectives: Keeping this in view Sweekaar initiated the services for children with learning difficulties with the following objectives:
- To screen the children with learning difficulties as early as possible
- To conduct detailed grade level assessment to find out the level at which the school going children are performing in reading, writing and maths
- To assess the specific problems in reading, writing and maths
- To provide remedial education techniques so that the children can improve in academic performance
- To conduct an ongoing evaluation and guide the students for examination with available exemptions
The target group: The school going children who have learning difficulties.
