Sweekaar’s journey began in 1977 with a noble mission and vision to serve individuals with mental challenges. With 48 years of experience in aiding the disabled, we have expanded our services to cater to all types of disabilities across all age groups under one roof by all types of specialists , cost effective, quick service delivery model in the Country.
Sweekaar is a non-profit, non-commercial, voluntary organization providing services to those with mental, physical, and hearing impairments, as well as autistic children, individuals with developmental delays, learning disorders, mental illnesses, the elderly, drug addicts, widows, and the destitute.
Our organization aims to be a model in the country as a Multi-Specialty Rehabilitation Centre, making Sweekaar the only voluntary organization in India that reaches the underserved, offering care to rural populations who would otherwise be left behind.
2.Meeting the Challenge of Manpower Shortage in Rehabilitation:
To address the critical shortage of skilled professionals in the rehabilitation sector, Sweekaar initiated 31 training programs, producing 9,547 rehabilitation professionals who are now serving both domestically and internationally. To date, we have supported over 94.45 lakh disabled individuals and created impact on their families. Most of the disabled were Below Poverty Line ( BPL ) received services through 19 service units. Beneficiaries hail from TG, AP , All over the Country and Abroad.
3.Sweekaar Academy of Rehabilitation Sciences (SARS):
In response to the shortage of trained manpower, we established the Sweekaar Academy of Rehabilitation Sciences (SARS) in 1996. SARS is the only academy in India dedicated to developing human resources in the rehabilitation field through comprehensive training programs.
4.Training Programs and Courses at SARS:
SARS offers 31 different training programs, including Diplomas, Degrees, Post-Graduate (P.G.), Post P.G., Psy.D., and Ph.D. courses, all recognized by State and Central Governments and Universities. To date, over 9,547 rehabilitation professionals have been trained, all of whom are employed locally and globally, contributing significantly to the field.

Credibility of Sweekaar:
1.Land and Infrastructure: The Ministry of Defence, Government of India, leased 0.95 acre of land in the heart of Secunderabad for Sweekaar, where our current infrastructure is located.
2.Tax Exemption: Donors to Sweekaar benefit from tax exemptions under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. All documents are required for CSR funding available.
3.Government Support: We were supported by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment to Hyderabad Special School for the Mentally Challenged and the Special School & Junior College for the Deaf for 20 years now no support from Govt , Ministry stopped grants for all NGO’s all over country.
4.Customs Exemption: Sweekaar enjoys customs duty exemption on all imports, facilitating access to necessary resources for our programs.
5.Foreign Contributions: Recognized by the Government of India to receive foreign contributions under FCRA, we are able to extend our reach and impact.
6.Scientific & Industrial Research Organization (SIRO): Sweekaar has been recognized as a SIRO by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, underscoring our commitment to research and innovation in the rehabilitation sector.
7.Institution of Excellence: Sweekaar has been accredited by the Rehabilitation Council of India as an Institution of Excellence in the field of rehabilitation and was graded as an “A” grade institution by the High Power Committee of the Rehabilitation Council of India in 2009.
8.NAAC Accreditation: Sweekaar has been accredited with a “C” grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for a five-year period, effective from 31/10/2017.
9.ISO Certification: Sweekaar is ISO 9001:2008 certified, reflecting our commitment to quality management and continuous improvement.
10.Recognition of Founder: The founder and chairman, Dr. P. Hanumantha Rao, has been featured in the book “Institution Builders in the Rehabilitation Sector in the Country,” published by the Rehabilitation Council of India, for his significant contributions.
11.Global Impact: Sweekaar takes pride in providing services to disabled individuals from across India and abroad, including the USA, Australia, UK and Gulf countries.
12.Hosting Conferences: We have hosted several national and international professional conferences, such as:

13.Collaboration with National Institutions: Sweekaar’s training courses have been recognized by the A.P. State Council for Higher Education, the Rehabilitation Council of India, and Osmania University, among others.
14.University Recognitions: Sweekaar is affiliated with Seven universities (Osmania University, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University ,Yogi Vemana University, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Andhra University, Indira Gandhi National Open University and Bhoj University ), offering fieldwork placement for their students.
15.State Information Centre: Recognized by the Government of India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Sweekaar has been entrusted with managing the State Information Centre for Disabled, the apex center in Andhra Pradesh providing crucial information on disability-related services.
16.Awards and Recognition: Mentally challenged and hearing-impaired children at Sweekaar have received 32 national and international awards for their achievements.
17.Founder’s Recognition: Dr. P. Hanumantha Rao, the Founder-Chairman, has received 56 national and international awards, including , the “State Level Vishishta Puraskaram – 2018” by the Telangana State Government on June 2, 2018 . He received 7 National Awards by President of India including Dr.B.C.Roy Award 1995 and Padma Shri Award 2023.
18.International Recognition: RCI Hong Kong Foundation International Award in 2010, International Award for Innovation and Leadership 2018 by the Mahez Foundation at the 2nd International NGO and CSR Summit in Malaysia on August 15, 2018.
19.Partnerships: National and international organizations, such as Latter-Day Saint Charities, Heart & Hand for the Handicapped, Share & Care Foundation, and American Telugu Association (ATA), American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) ,Many companies and known and unknown donors have supported Sweekaar’s efforts, contributing to its success.
20.Assets: Sweekaar’s assets, valued at Rs. 50 crores, are collectively owned by the organization and managed by an elected governing body.
21.Dissolution Clause : In the event of dissolution, as per the Memorandum of Articles of Association (Clause XIV), Sweekaar’s assets will not be distributed to members but transferred to a similar society or trust.
