Sweekaar conducts school screening program & primary school teacher’s sensitization program. Our team goes to schools, screen the primary and middle schools children with invisible disabilities i.e. learning disabilities and provides remedial education. Hearing and vision tests are two most frequent evaluations, and very much important because difficulties with these two senses are often subtle, and neither parents, teachers or not child may even realize the problem.
Under school screening program, we offer hearing and vision screening to provide hearing & vision screening and referral to school-aged children. We go to all private, charter, public schools to make screening available to its students a systematic screening for hearing disorders in order to allow early identification and appropriate intervention.
The main and primary goal of the school screening program is to identify children with hearing and vision impairments and refer them to intervention services in the community. We want to increase the number of schools complying with hearing screening mandate. An annual increase in the number of hearing and vision screening performed on school-aged children. Develop curriculums for hearing and vision screening and provide training to enhance performance.
Hearing and vision loss indeed have devastating effects on academic, social and communication development. An early stage screening and recognition would allow the specialists to understand and treat the problem. On the other hand, child due to young age recover quickly, and get right solution to cope with the problem, and learn to live life without any dependency.
Apart from vision and hearing screening, our school screening program also includes examination by a doctor for heart defects, slow growth, squints, other child development issues. As a parent, it is important that you inform school or Sweekaar about any health problem you child might have so that the condition can be tested and reviewed. In case any health conditions are detected during the screening, your child will be referred to our centre.
Finding out your child has a learning disability is certainly disturbing, but the best thing you can do as a parent is simply to love and support your child. Get all facts about your child’s learning difficulties and how it affects learning process. You need to work with your child’s school to develop an individualized Education plan to set goals for your child, and describe support that may be needed to meet those goals.
